Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese full-fat, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or high-quality marinara
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese divided
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni or sliced pepperoni, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives optional
  • 2 tbsp sliced green onions for garnish

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish, cast iron skillet, or 8x8 baking dish
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer or sturdy spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spatula to beat until completely smooth and creamy. This is your flavorful base layer.
  2. Spread the creamy cheese mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish, oven-safe skillet, or similar baking dish. Use the back of a spoon to create a smooth, even layer that covers the entire bottom.
  3. Carefully spoon the pizza sauce over the cream cheese layer, spreading it gently to cover completely. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and half of the Parmesan cheese evenly over the sauce.
  4. Scatter the mini pepperoni and black olives (if using) over the cheese layer. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. This creates the perfect cheesy, golden crust.
  5. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly around the edges and the cheese on top is fully melted and just starting to turn golden in spots. Let it cool for 5 minutes before garnishing with green onions and serving.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• Letting the dip rest for 5 minutes after baking allows it to set slightly for easier dipping.
• Avoid overbaking, as the cream cheese can separate and become oily.
• Serve immediately while hot and bubbly for the best texture.
Food Safety:
• Ensure dip reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for food safety.
• Do not leave at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
