Method
- Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once the cake is baked, let it cool for about 15 minutes. Then, using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake, about 1 inch apart.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the strawberry jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved, then add 1/2 cup of cold water. Pour the jello mixture evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 3 hours, or until the jello is set. Once set, spread the whipped topping evenly over the top of the cake.
- Garnish with sliced fresh strawberries before serving. Slice and enjoy your refreshing Strawberry Jello Poke Cake!
Notes
Chef's Tips:
• For a more intense strawberry flavor, you can add some strawberry extract to the cake batter.
• Avoid over-poking the cake, as it may cause it to fall apart.
• Serve chilled for the best texture and flavor.
Food Safety:
• Ensure the cake is fully cooled before adding the jello to prevent it from melting the cake.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator to keep them fresh and safe to eat.
