  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray to ensure the bars don't stick.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until well blended.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of softened butter, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until creamy. Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir in 2 cups of Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels and, if desired, 1 cup of chopped nuts.
  5. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned and the center is set. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
