These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of this website and the Image to PNG Converter tool made available on it (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by [Your Company Name] (“we”, “us”, “our”). We have written these Terms in plain English on purpose, but they are still a binding agreement between you and us, so please read them before you use the Service.

1. Acceptance

By visiting this website or using the converter, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms for that organisation, and “you” then means both you and the organisation.

2. The Service

The Service is a free, browser-based image tool. It lets you open an image (JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF or BMP), choose which part of it you want to keep using one of four selection modes, and download the result as a PNG file. Animated GIFs are converted using their first frame, because a PNG holds a single still image.

• Rectangle Crop and Freehand Lasso run entirely inside your browser and make no network requests at all.
• Auto Subject Extraction and AI Click Select also run inside your browser, but each one downloads an AI model from a third-party content delivery network the first time you use it in a session. Sections 5 and 6 explain what that involves.

The Service is provided free of charge and “as is”. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time without notice, and we do not promise that it will always be available or free of faults. The converter needs a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge; older browsers that cannot encode canvas content are shown a message instead of the tool.

The underlying WordPress plugin is released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. If you install that plugin on your own website, your copy is governed by that licence, and you are responsible for the terms, notices and privacy disclosures you give your own visitors. These Terms cover only your use of the Service on this website.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Service for any lawful purpose, provided that:

• you own the images you process, or you have the permission or licence you need to edit them and to use the result;
• you do not process or create images that are unlawful, that infringe someone else’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other rights, or that are intended to harass, deceive or harm anyone;
• you do not attempt to interfere with the Service, overload it, bypass its limits, or use automated tools to access it in a way that disrupts it for other people;
• you do not remove or obscure any licence, copyright or attribution notice that belongs to us or to the third-party components listed in section 6.

We may block access to the Service if we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.

4. Your content

Because of this:

• you keep every right you have in the images you process and in the PNG files you create;
• we do not claim any licence, ownership or other interest in your content, and we have no ability to view, copy, store or share it;
• you are solely responsible for your content and for how you use the results.

The two AI modes download a model to your device; they do not send your image anywhere. Files you download are saved by your browser to your own device and are entirely under your control from that point on.

5. AI features

Auto Subject Extraction and AI Click Select use machine-learning models to work out which part of an image is the subject, or which object sits under the point you click. These results are automated and can be imperfect: edges may be rough, parts of the subject may be missed, or a different object from the one you intended may be selected. Results also depend on your device, your browser and the image itself.

You are responsible for checking the output before you rely on it or publish it. The manual modes, Rectangle Crop and Freehand Lasso, are always available if an AI result is not what you need.

A few practical points about the AI modes:

• Each mode downloads its model the first time it is used in a session: roughly 44 MB for Auto Subject Extraction (with the default model) and roughly 38 MB for AI Click Select, plus a small runtime. Your browser caches these files so later use is faster, but the first download can be significant on mobile data. You are responsible for any data charges you incur.
• Because the AI modes rely on files served by third parties, they may be unavailable if a connection fails, a network blocks those hosts, or your browser cannot run the model. In that case the converter shows a message and the two offline modes keep working.
• AI Click Select declines images above roughly 16 megapixels and suggests the manual modes instead.

6. Third-party components

The AI modes depend on open-source software and models that your browser fetches directly from third-party servers when you use those modes. They are not bundled with the converter and we do not redistribute them. Each component is governed by its own licence, which we do not alter and which applies alongside these Terms.

These providers are independent of us. Their availability, performance and any terms they apply to their own services are outside our control. If you plan to bundle or redistribute any of these components yourself, check the relevant licence first: the AGPL-3.0 carries obligations that the Apache-2.0 does not, and IMG.LY offers a commercial licence for @imgly/background-removal if those obligations do not suit your project.

7. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

In plain words:

• No warranties. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that it will be fit for any particular purpose, or that its output will be accurate or suitable for your needs.
• Your responsibility. You use the Service at your own risk. Keep a copy of your original images: the converter does not store anything for you and cannot recover a file you have closed or overwritten.
• Our liability is limited. To the fullest extent the law allows, [Your Company Name] and its owners, staff and contributors will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss, even if we were told it was possible.
• If we are liable anyway. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to [amount, for example the amount you have paid us for the Service, which is nil].
• What this does not cover. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations. If that applies to you, those parts of this section apply only as far as the law permits.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when the converter gains a feature, when a third-party component changes, or when the law requires it. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when the current version took effect. For significant changes we will try to give reasonable notice on this website. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

We may also change or remove features of the Service itself at any time, including switching off either AI mode.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [country or state], and any dispute about them will be dealt with by the courts of [jurisdiction]. If the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally or to rely on local consumer protections, that right is not affected.

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
